Va. State Director reports on Univision Watch Party...

Last Sunday's watch party in Falls Church, Virginia was a blast! As soon as I walked in, the hosts Catherina and Ingrid greeted me with a warm welcome. They immediately pointed at the food and asked me to help myself. And I sure did! I particularly liked the quesadillas and guacamole.

The debate broadcasted over Univision was historic...everyone in the room was excited that it was in Spanish and that Latino issues would be addressed. We couldn't wait to see Hillary in action!
This viewing party was not only great because it gave me the opportunity to meet and converse with other Latino Hillary supporters in the area but I was also able to choose to watch the debate in Spanish (living room) or in English (basement). Being able to exchange comments and opinions during the debate was priceless. It opened my eyes to why others have chosen to follow Hillary to Presidency and inspired me to continue to advocate for her to win! We even had a telemundo achor in our mist but I won't mention her name just yet (until she becomes public with whom she will be endorsing). Hillary's last answer to the question of "Latinos contributions to the US.." was a perfect ending to the debate. I looked around and everyone seemed to have jumped out of their chairs to cheer her on.
Overall, the best part was when we teleconferenced with Hillary and over 75 other House parties across the nation and heard her thoughts directly after the debate! She was extremely excited that she was able to take part in such a historic event and was determined to address the needs of the Latino community across the Nation. What more could we ask for ?!?!

First-Ever Spanish Language Presidential Debate

On Sunday September 9, 2007, seven of the eight Democratic candidates participated in the first-ever Spanish language Presidential debate on Univision at the University of Miami. The candidates were eager to address the needs of the U.S. Hispanic constituency that many believe could play a pivotal role in next year's Presidential election. Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, who recently returned from an Iraq trip, was the only Democrat not to take part.

The debate, in which the presidential candidates' remarks were translated live from English, provided the candidates an opportunity to address America's estimated 17 million Hispanics of voting age in what for many is our native language.

Hillary supporters hosted over 75 watch parties across the nation!
Stay tuned for comments and pictures!!
